  The hardest part about writing poetry is choosing the right words. Use a paper or magazine as raw material to get over the first hurdle. reading a book or watching a movie. and now . Poetry is a form of literary art in which language is used for its aesthetic and evocative qualities in addition to, or in lieu of, its apparent meaning. Sandra Doller: I’m Sandra Doller, and this is PoetryNow. I would say I’m recently a mother, but (LAUGHS) my kid is four now, so I don’t know how recent that is. Since this piece is about lifespans, the relativity of time in relation to different lives and forms of life, that seems really recent to me, but not to a four-year-old.

The book is composed of just over Poetry now - connecting book autobiographical essays and musings that touch on stories of his often-misspent youth and adulthood, as well as haiku, longer-form poetry. Poetry captures what's so often ungraspable, articulates what's so often inarticulable, makes sense of the seemingly nonsensical.
